Guadua angustafolia

One of the best bamboo species in the world, often referred to as vegetal steel. No other natural resource possesses more: versatility, lightness, flexibility, endurance, hardness, strength, climatic adaptability, seismic-resistance, rapid growth, easy handling and visual warmth! Very hardy, handles rocky terrain, marginal soil, and excellent for erosion control.  Susceptible to blowing over in high winds.  White bands on nodes (not internodes) and can be very thorny with lots of sharp lethal thorns on branches and culms.  80’ tall with 8” culms.  Clumping bamboos can be planted without fear of them spreading beyond their assigned territory, making them non-invasive.
