Foxtail Palm ( Wodyetia bifurcata)

This beautiful ornamental palm grows to a height of 25-30 feet and under proper conditions it can grow 2-3 feet per year. It is a solitary palm with a crown of eight to ten arching, plumose and fluffy fronds. When in its juvenile stage it is very similar in appearance to a solitaire fishtail palm but as the palm matures, it fronds acquire more and more layers to the leaves giving it a full ruffled appearance. It is adaptable to many environments and is moderately salt resistant and drought tolerant. It grows best in full sun and requires moderate watering. The Foxtail palm can be used as a single specimen in a landscaping design or planted together with other Foxtail palms. It also can make a nice container plant for patios and decks.
